About The Event
It has taken a mighty amount longer than planned (for September 2020) to get this picnic organised, but bring your picnic blanket, goodies and wheels of all kinds to Bodington Fields for a final end of term skate.
Let's bring a picnic (bring your own picnic), skates, bikes and scooters for primary-aged children (and helmets for everyone) and skate together!
We will bring our speaker for roller dance, and have optional team games, speed skates and hill workshops.
We will also bring a selection of items from the shop, so if you need toe stops, skate tools or accessories, come and browse.
We have a free goodie bag for everyone that will also be at our shop stall for you to collect.
You will be able to hire skates, please ensure you book a ticket for this.
On the loop
Wheels of all kinds will be allowed here. Primary-aged children are welcome to ride scooters, bikes or trikes around the loop. Children remain the responsibility of their accompanying adults at all times and we ask that riders use the space with consideration of other users.
We may clear the loop to have timed laps. We encourage skaters to beat their own time, rather than anyone elses.
On the Straight Track
We will invite you to play some team games - think sports day on skates - with prizes!
On the Hill and Top Loop
Free skate space here!
In the Fenced Area
We will pop our speaker here for roller dance time if you want to boogie!
Picnic
Please bring a picnic and use the grass in the centre of the loop as the main picnic area.
Help us keep the site tidy by taking your rubbish with you when you leave.
What happens if it rains?
Our event will very likely go ahead, even if it rains. Experience has taught us that it tends to be showery... so do pack that waterproof! The track is a high grade of tarmac and we are able to continue to skate unless it is hurricane conditions.
Should we have to cancel the event due to poor weather, we will refund you the cost of your tickets, but are unable to refund any further costs you may incur.
COVID-secure
Please ensure that you are helping the UK stay as safe as possible, and maintain a little distance, even if you are vaccinated. We suggest you have a face mask close so you can wear this if you are not able to adequately distance. We will have hand sanitiser available if you do not have your own.
General rules to keep everyone safe:
- All track users must wear a helmet when skating or riding.
- No skating or riding in the car park please.
- Bodington Fields is a busy facility, so please do not arrive before 9.45am, as the Junior park runners will be using the car park, so there will be no space for you! Equally, we ask that you leave promptly when our event is finished, to allow the next users car park access.
- Toilets are situated in the main building, and no skating is allowed in there.
