Skating with Roller Girl Gang this week... (from 26th August 2024)

How's everyone feeling after such an exciting Summer Skate Picnic over the weekend? Are you still determined to fit more skating time in this week too? Roller Girl Gang's got you covered with our array of weekly classes! So what are you waiting for, come on down to The Skate Sanctuary where we strive to empower people into their most confident and joyful lives.

Let's keep MONDAY chill with a Monday evening practice session from 6.30 - 8.30 pm! Alright, we might sound slightly bias but we think our evening sessions are a great way to start off the week... How would you go wrong with disco lights, plenty of grooving and a space to work on whatever picks your fancy in a pressure-free environment?

The Skate Sanctuary has also proven itself a fantastic space to work on a variety of roller dance skills that pick your fancy. We welcome skaters of all levels with open arms whether you're looking for a space to begin your roller skating journeys or developing those moves on or off skates. It's official, you're invited!

On TUESDAY, let's delve into what makes up roller dance... Ourselves and many skaters alike love using roller dance as a way to not only have a good time but also express ourselves. We want everyone to be given the chance to experience this thrilling way of moving. So if this sounds like something you'd enjoy, get your grooves ready for our Discover Roller Dance class from 6.30 - 8.00 pm!

Thanks to our incredible coaches who built up a bank of knowledge over the years, allow us to introduce you to the inspiring world of roller dance with no previous experience needed. We of course gladly welcome returning visitors with open arms also, pop on in and say hello.

Welcome WEDNESDAY where we're continuing with our monthly focus on a well known move, the downtown. We've got to say, you're all smashing this! At Roller Girl Gang, we love being a part of so many different peoples roller skate journeys. But most of all, it makes us so happy to see folks confidence grow! We believe anyone should be able to enjoy the many, many benefits of roller skating and our weekly Roller Dance Skills Focus & Flow session has proven just that.

If you haven't already joined us for a session, what are you waiting for? Come on down to The Skate Sanctuary from 6.30 - 8.30 pm and master your flow.

Roll on THURSDAY... we're once again met with two different open level practices... Roller girl gang invites you to a safe space for all, a space which only has room for spreading the love. Thursday open level practice (all ages) is a chance for all ages to work on developing those roller dance skills in a supportive environment in a like-minded community. It's all about what works for you; on or off skates, connect with other skaters and no coaches. Come on down from 6.00 - 7.30 pm.

Take things at your own pace and wind-down by doing your own thing on skates. Introducing our later session from 7.30 - 9.30 as a result of our late closing times on Thursdays. Across all of our sessions, we ask that you're respectful of others and refrain from skating at a very fast speed as our studio just isn't built for it. We're all here to support each other and build up confidence. This session is 17+ only.

Skating is thirsty work, let's replenish all of that excitement with a selection of hot drinks or help support us by purchasing a refreshing soft drink at The Skate Sanctuary.

We are more than happy to top up your water bottle for free if you bring one along with you, (or buy one of ours) just ask a member of staff!

We also have a selection of snacks so you can continue skating and bring those energy levels back up!

I can hear the disco tunes already, get ready to relax at our beloved weekly wind-down... Friday Night Social this week is hosting a guest DJ. DJ Formless will be playing a selection of tunes as he makes his debut at FNS! Roll into our adult roller disco for all levels and genders of roller skaters this FRIDAY from 7.30 - 10.00 pm.

If your feeling up it and thank you may be ready, we'd love to see some new faces giving themselves a little challenge of joining in with one of our speed skates. Perhaps if you don't quite feel ready for that, a little groove in the centre instead. Let's continue growing and expanding our community!

Our studio and shop are open all weekend - Saturday 10 - 6pm and Sunday 10 - 4pm.

Sunday 1st September also sees the return of our regular classes at the Sikh sports hall. Get your place booked at our popular adult learn-to-skate class - our coaches are looking forward to meeting you once more and getting you rolling more confidently.

Sunday's skills focus class is a Slalom Special - get your footwork ever more precise using the cones :) Suitable for skaters who can skate forward, have balance, some control over their speed and are looking for a challenge.
