Weekly round up (bank holiday weekend)

As the summer holiday fun continues we finally reach the week of our annual summer skate picnic! Level up your skating this bank holiday weekend with Roller Girl Gang...

Let's dive straight into a much loved event coming up this SATURDAY! That's right, it's finally that time of the year for our Summer Skate Picnic 2024. Join us for a range of skating activities at the lovely facility Bodington Fields from 1.00 - 5.00 pm. We expect bright flags, ribbons and streamers to wave as part of the super exciting skate parade whether you're taking part or admiring the stunning outfits!

Filled to the brim with great tunes, groovy dancing and speedy hill skating, come and get your fix surrounded by the company of like-minded others. Phew, after all of that moving we'll be setting up for a grand picnic. Bring along all the snacks and drinks your heart desires as you gather your pals, we hope to see you there!

Just remember to bring your helmet! All track users MUST wear a helmet. If you don't have one, or forget, Bodington Cycle circuit have helmets for hire.

There's so much to look forward to on SATURDAY, to find out more, click bellow...

As we start our week off on MONDAY, glide into a chill space for all at The Skate Sanctuary for our weekly Monday evening practice. From 6.30 - 8.30 pm, we welcome all forms of groove whether that's on skates or practicing a move or two through steppers. The Skate Sanctuary is home to a pressure-free environment providing a safe place for all to connect with other skaters. It's official, you're invited... Come and enjoy the disco lights!

Our Discover roller dance class is here this TUESDAY with a focus on helping skaters with little/no prior experience in roller dance. We'll help take you through some fundamental movement principles all whilst having some fun!

Get those moves ready for 6.30 - 8.00 pm and allow us to introduce you to some dandy skills and techniques that we've developed over many years. We love roller dance and want everyone to be given the chance to experience this thrilling way of moving. Please note this class starts off skates, with some movement principles.

As we roll into WEDNESDAY, the downtown continues... How is everyone finding learning this funky way of dancing? We're most certainly enjoying practicing it with you! If you've not already, come and have some fun working on your balance and learning some groovy moves all which can be achieved in a tiny space. Don't worry if you've missed any previous sessions, we'll soon catch you to speed. What are you waiting for, we're here at The Skate Sanctuary from 6.30pm - 8.30pm to help you master your flow with our Roller dance skills focus and flow session.

'There are so many new skills I want to learn but I don't have a space to do it...' Good news, we have two open-level practice slots on THURSDAY. Feel free to bring younger skaters from 6.00 - 7.30 pm at our open-level practice for all ages!

Instead, you may like some time to yourself or a chance to meet other like-minded skaters? Don't worry, we've got you covered with our open level-practice for adults only (17+). With a later closing time on Thursday's, come and say hi from 7.30 - 9.30 pm at the skate sanctuary!

As THURSDAY continues, we'll be going even further and over more challenging terrain in our Outdoor confidence for more experienced skaters class! Are you ready for that little extra push and wanting to step up a level with your outdoor skating? Then this class might just be the one for you.

Confidence plays a bit part in all our skating journeys, we want to help you build that up to enjoy doing the things you love with ease. If you dream of skating care-free and confidently outside, but have realized skating outside is a completely different experience, then join us for this workshop from 6.30 - 8.00 pm!

Finally, it's FRIDAY! It's time to come and skate, have a chat, meet other skaters in the community and unwind at Friday night social. Expect a buzzing atmosphere this week the night before the Summer skate picnic weekend, let's enjoy them summer evenings whilst they're here!

We understand that if you have less skate experience it can be difficult to relax and get involved. Need help figuring out which protective gear to put on and where? (it's more common than you may think). Our awesome volunteer skate marshals are here to ensure that you and others are feeling safe and offer some words of encouragement.

If you're feeling up for it, dance your way into the centre or if you've got the need for speed take part in our speed skates! Come and say hello for a weekly wind-down from 7.30 - 10.00 pm.
