Roller Dance Skills Focus & Flow 17+

Weekly skills focus class to deep dive into a roller dance move or skill. SEPT - CROSS STEP

2 hr
From 12 British pounds
Studio @ The Skate Sanctuary

Service Description

This class will have a monthly focus to deep dive into a particular movement set, including as many variations as we know and can create! Suitable for most levels - you decide which level you're comfortable to work at. September's focus will be the cross step - this is one of the building blocks of roller dance and without it, you will be very limited! Cross step also supports many other skate skills, including crossovers. While this is a fundamental move, we can play with it a lot to add various levels of challenge, so you can continue to progress as quickly or slowly as you decide. Each class will build on skills from the previous week throughout the month, however, just come when you can! This class is suitable for folks who have some roller dance experience - if you have none, we recommend you try our Tuesday night classes first. However, you are still welcome to attend, just understand that the pace of the class will pick up during the month. The first couple of sessions will be more fundamentals based, which will then be built on through the month. If the class feels too intense for you, you are welcome to join in without skates. Roller dance is very challenging! Why do we love roller dance so much? It fosters a sense of belonging when folks are able to dance together. Roller dance is incredibly powerful and we have had the privilege of being in spaces where skaters don't speak the same language, but are able to join in with the same steps in dance. It supports fantastic footwork and technique that will support all other forms of roller skating. Especially balance. It doesn't require a lot of room, so you can practise in a smaller space - like The Skate Sanctuary! It's great fun. It's a fabulous warm up You will become a more confident skater and learn to be more patient with yourself. Skate Hire Skate hire is available from the front desk for £2 per session - you can pay by cash or card Drinking water is available and we have a selection of hot and cold refreshments for sale.
